  7. XCOM 6.2 is a facility for transferring data (including reports, jobs, and
  8. files) between IBM mainframes, System 3X's, AS/400's, DEC VAXs, PCs (both DOS
  9. and OS/2), Stratus/S/88, Macintosh, Token Ring LANs, LAN Gateways, and
  10. UNIX-based systems. XCOM 6.2 provides a consistent user interface, regardless
  11. of the computer it is installed on. By utilizing APPC/LU 6.2, XCOM 6.2 permits
  12. peer-to-peer transfers to be initiated at either end, unattended, with
  13. extensive error checking, and automatic error recovery
  14.  
  15. Communications are at the operating system level; they do not use terminal
  16. emulation. XCOM 6.2 typically allows record lengths of up to 32K and supports
  17. dial-up or dedicated lines, CPU channels, coax, and token-ring LAN. It handles
  18. both binary and character data transparently, in either ASCII or EBCDIC. XCOM
  19. 6.2 provides any-to-any communications between all supported devices and is
  20. fully PU 2.1 compatible. XCOM 6.2 is currently the fastest SNA-based file
  21. transfer product in the industry.
